| Archie, Aug-88 | 1st Appearances of Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady in comics. Newsstand AND Direct Variant CPV exist #12 in this year's Top 100. Angelo notes: Not one but THREE first comic book appearances; Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady! Prices in 2020 have skyrocketed on all grades making me wonder where the ceiling for this book is. A 9.8 CBCS direct CPV sold in November 2020 for $1875 on a public auction. Ben notes: Advisors still do not have a full consensus as to whether we should give separate values for the newsstand and direct edition CPV for the issue; but the present "lean" among the group seems to be for the newsstand version to have a higher value, and we will revisit next year. This book only very recently "took off" in market value and the number of direct vs. newsstand sales we can observe will hopefully continue to grow during 2021. Related: please note that CGC "lumps together" both types by cover price on their census, making it more difficult to study the relative rarity between the newsstand and direct CPVs, and making the census count number at right inclusive of both types. A CGC 9.8 (Direct) variant auctioned for $1,525 on 12/13/2020 and a CBCS 9.8 (Direct) variant auctioned for $1,875 on 11/19/2020; a CGC 9.8 (Newsstand) variant sold very quickly at a buy-it-now for $2,069 12/7/2020.
